Hi, I'm Jay. I first trained in phlebotomy 5 years ago and quickly realised how much I loved it. Since then I have worked in primary care, secondary care and in the community for the NHS taking blood. I was orginally trained in house and then completed a period of supervised practice, signing off a portfolio of comeptence. Since then each year I have completed update training to make sure my skills are refreshed and any updates to best practice acted upon. Most recently I have completed a CPD accredited Diploma on Venepuncture, Phlebotomy and Sample Handling through Alison Learning.
I am a member of the National Association of Phlebotomists and hold valid Public Liability and Medical Indemnity Insurance a copy of which is available on request.
In my career so far I estimate I have taken approaching 10,000 blood samples and am still regularly taking over 150 blood samples a week. I am proud to say that I get patients returning time after time.
I work with patients aged 13+ and people often say my calm and friendly nature puts them at ease. I will never rush you so if we need to take extra time because you're needlephobic then that is fine.
